The Metaphorical Assertion of Minangkabau Cultural Leaders’ Speeches

This study aimed to explain the assertive illocutionary speech of Minangkabau cultural leaders in context a monologue termed Pitaruah Ayah, containing values wrapped metaphorical speech. research refers Searle’s act theory and descriptive qualitative methods were used. Data collected from records all speeches through transcription in-depth interviews. analyzed using agitated equivalent method offered by Sudaryanto for reviewing language research. To measure validity types, conditions Felicity Searle proving truth speaker’s proposition The results analysis showed that Ayah are with informative complaints, warnings, advice / suggestions claims. Each has specific purpose message hidden speaker uses delivery strategy an indirect form strengthen their linguistic power as leader community.
